A group of outraged customers refused to let a man accused of abusing a 4-year-old child leave a Chinese restaurant in southwest Oklahoma City.

The 62-year-old man was being held on a $10,000 bond, but bonded out just before noon. News 9's calls to him so far have not been returned, but the police report states it appears he may have snapped when the four year old started crying uncontrollably.

The report states Che Weise was arrested just after noon Tuesday, outside the China Wok Super Buffet near SW 89th and Western Ave. Police say someone called 911 to report Weise threw a child against a wall and hit her with a shoe.

According to the police report, a witness told police that while others dined on Chinese food, Weise grabbed the little girl by the arm and leg and "threw her very violently" into the seat he was sitting in, causing her to "strike her head against the wall."

It says he then "picked up a shoe" that fell off and "hit her several times." It says he then "took a napkin" and "placed it and his hand over her mouth to keep her from crying." Those visiting the restaurant today were shocked to hear it happened.

"I don't think it's right by any means you know," said Ray Osborn, a regular patron of the China Wok. "I can't understand what a child that young could have done to make somebody behave like that."

As it turns out, one of the patrons even blocked in the car Weise was driving so he could not take off with the girl before police got there.

"I think it's great that they stepped up and did what they could to protect that child," said Osborn.

And police say they also don't blame those patrons for stepping in. They say they usually recommend for people to not get involved when a crime is taking place for their own safety and to wait for police to arrive. However in this case, it helped keep Weise there until police arrived.

The police report also states Weise had a gun in his car, but did have a conceal carry permit. The little girl was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
