A group of outraged customers refused to let a man accused of abusing a 4-year-old child leave a Chinese restaurant in southwest Oklahoma City.

On September 3, police were called to the China Wok restaurant at S.W. 89th Street and Western. Customers reported seeing 62-year-old Che Weise sitting in a booth with a 4-year-old girl. Witnesses said Weise became angry because the child was crying, and he "snapped."

Witnesses told police Weise stood up, grabbed one of the girl's arms and one of her legs, and threw her into the wall at the back of the booth. The child's head struck the wall. Customers also said the girl's shoes fell off, and Weise picked one up and hit her several times on the buttocks with it.

Witnesses also reported seeing Weise taking a napkin and placing it over the child's mouth while telling her to be quiet and stop crying.

Customers became alarmed and told Weise to stop mistreating the child. Police say that's when Weise took the child and tried to leave, but customers wouldn't let him. They called police and followed him out to his car. One patron even used his vehicle to block Weise's car.

Police arrived and arrested Weise. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail for child abuse.

The little girl was taken to the hospital to be checked out. She was later released to go home with her parents. It's not clear how Weise and the child are related.
