An abandoned dog found in an Oklahoma City parking lot is recovering from a life-threatening injury, thanks to the kindness of strangers.
Customers at the Petsmart on Penn and Memorial found the pup under a car and contacted an animal rescue organization.
When veterinarians checked out the dog -- who is now being called Pumpkin -- they discovered she had a rubber band embedded in her neck. They say Pumpkin was found just in time.
"She's just the poster child right now of pets that still need homes and need a little bit of love," said Dr. Dustin Brown, Animal Medical Center.
The Bella Foundation is covering the cost of Pumpkin's care, thanks to donations. Good news -- veterinarians expect Pumpkin to make a full recovery.
Anyone interested in adopting this pup can visit www.thebellafoundation.org to find an Adoption Application and also view other dogs available for adoption.
