A mother and father are facing child neglect charges after their 23-day-old child died from apparent heat exposure on Tuesday.

Ardmore Police, along with the DHS, took Christopher and Angela Randolph into custody at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday

Investigators say Christopher, 28, and Angela, 26, were driving in a van from Ohio to the Ardmore area on Tuesday. The van did not have air conditioning and was only able to roll down one window.

As the family was entering Ardmore they noticed their infant, Hannah Randolph, was not breathing. They stopped at a convenience store to get help and the child was rushed to the emergency room where she was pronounced dead.

It is assumed that the child succumbed to the heat while riding inside the vehicle, but an exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.

A 15-month-old child was also taken into protective custody at the hospital and placed with a relative.

Christopher and Angela were taken to the Carter County Jail. Details of a bound have not been determined.

Police also learned that the couple had two other children taken away from them by Ohio child protective services in 2010.
