Police have arrested a man they say is behind a series of armed robberies Tuesday morning at stores in Oklahoma City and Edmond.

The crime spree began just after 7 a.m. and lasted about three hours.

Police say the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Korean Washington, robbed the Radio Shack on Belle Isle Boulevard around 9:45 a.m., the Target near S.W. 44th Street and Western around 9 a.m., and the Walmart at 1225 W. I-35 Frontage Road in Edmond around 7:10 a.m..

Police say during the first robbery at Walmart, Washington went to the electronics section of the store and asked an employee to show him an iPad in a locked case. When the worker unlocked the case, Washington allegedly took two iPads. The employee tried to stop Washington, but witnesses said he pulled out a gun and ran out of the store.

Witnesses told police Washington was driving a dark-colored Honda Civic or Honda Accord, and also gave police the tag number of the car.

Just after 10 a.m., police located Washington at the Oxford Inn, a motel at Interstate 44 and Lincoln. He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
