The Oklahoma City RedHawks held the Reno Aces scoreless through five innings and built an early lead in an eventual 4-2 win Tuesday in front of a crowd of 3,658 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks (61-50) won a fifth-straight game as they played Reno (45-66) for the first time this season. The teams opened a four-game series Tuesday.

RedHawks starting pitcher Jake Buchanan (3-2) secured the win, allowing two runs and six hits through seven innings. He walked one and struck out three. Oklahoma City pitcher Rhiner Cruz picked up his second save of the season, retiring the final four Reno batters of the game, including two strikeouts.

Reno starting pitcher Trevor Cahill, on rehab assignment from the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowed four runs (three earned) and five hits in 5.1 innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Oklahoma City built a 3-0 lead.

George Springer grounded out and scored Ruben Sosa, who led off with a single, for a 1-0 Oklahoma City lead in the first inning.

In the third inning, Jose Martinez's RBI single on a line drive to left field pushed the RedHawks ahead, 2-0.

Carlos Perez later singled to center to score Jimmy Paredes for a 3-0 advantage in the fourth inning.

Reno scored two runs in the sixth inning, on a RBI groundout by Juan Rivera and RBI single by Alfredo Marte, but the RedHawks added to their lead in the bottom of the frame. A throwing error by Reno pitcher Chase Anderson on a pickoff attempt allowed Brandon Laird to score for a 4-2 lead.

Oklahoma City now sits 11 games above .500 for the first time this season and has won five games in a row for the first time since winning seven straight April 26-May 2.

Oklahoma City's series against Reno continues at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
