Residents are on edge as Oklahoma City and Edmond police officers continue their search for a suspect in an attempted child abduction.

Officers say a man followed a boy riding his bike from Edmond into Oklahoma City Friday. Edmond police say news of attempt spread though the community very quickly, prompting homeowners associations to send emails to people living in the Pine Valley and Homestead subdivisions.

On Sunday, Homestead residents received an alert from their HOA warning of a second abduction attempt, but as of late Monday, police said they only knew of one.

Here is the alert sent to homeowners:

"There has been a second attempted child abduction (different children) in Pine Valley neighborhood (right across the street from Homestead on Danforth).

White male, aprox. 6'2ish. Black ford truck. VERY AGGRESSIVE.

I do not know anymore information then what I have stated."

"Friday night and over the weekend, we did increase patrols in that area looking for the vehicle and to make sure it wasn't happening again," Jenny Monroe with Edmond police said.

The suspect is being described as a skinny white man who was wearing a ski mask. He was seen driving a newer model black Ford pickup truck.

"I was very surprised because we've always felt like this was a very safe area," concerned parent Carol Krisher said.

An 8-year-old boy told police the suspect followed him for eight miles. Police say the suspect left before the boy found a home with a parked Oklahoma City police car.

"That law enforcement agent called 911," Monroe said.

Police say they do not have a tag number for the pickup truck. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Edmond police at 405-359-4420.
