A Wewoka woman is in critical condition after troopers say she fell asleep behind the wheel of her Volkswagen just before 10 a.m. Monday. Carrinna Snider is in a Tulsa hospital with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Snider was eastbound on State Highway 59 about a mile east of Bowlegs when her VW left the roadway to the left and hit a tree. She was pinned in the vehicle for about 25 minutes then freed by Seminole firefighters.

The 36-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Troopers say the cause of the collision was driver sleepiness.

Snider was wearing a seatbelt, and her airbag deployed.
