People across the metro were once again awakened by early-morning storms that dumped heavy rain across the city.

The storms began around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, bringing rain, lightning and thunder. The downpour caused flooding on several metro roads. Northbound I-235 at N.E. 50th Street was briefly closed due to flooding. It reopened just before 7 a.m.

The storms also caused widespread power outages. OG&E reported more than 14,000 outages in its system, most of them in south-central Oklahoma City.

News 9 viewers also reported wind damage in parts of Mustang, Minco and south of Norman.

News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles says another round of rain may move through the metro Wednesday morning, and more storms are possible in the afternoon and into the night. The stormy weather should clear out by Thursday afternoon, setting up for a dry pattern and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s.
