Moore Police say they've arrested five people for looting since the tornado last Monday.

Looting is something police in Moore have had a personal stake in stopping since entire neighborhoods were leveled in Moore and Oklahoma City 10 days ago.

Moore Police arrested 43-year-old Harold McCrary on Monday.  He's just one of the five. Police caught him Monday on the 1000 block of SW 4th St., driving a truck and pulling a trailer loaded with leather furniture that wasn't his.

A witness told police people in the neighborhood tried to stop McCrary, but he sped away, almost hitting several others who were standing in the street.

"There's no one way of knowing who we're not catching when the neighbors call," said Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis.

Moore says just because people can now get into these neighborhoods again doesn't mean police aren't watching.

"I don't know if there is a lower crime, there's nothing but a slab, and then someone comes along. That's pretty much as low as it gets," said Lewis.

Oklahoma City Police say while they haven't arrested anybody for looting, they've arrested several people in the damaged areas for outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.

"That's the major problem with looting arrests is you have to have a victim and when property has been strewn, to say who's property it is. That's why the checkpoints were set up to maintain who's getting in and not getting in," said Oklahoma City Police Capt. Dexter Nelson.

Moore Police say they will continue to have police stationed on every other block where there is tornado damage.
