It was confirmed on Monday that former Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt had requested his release from OSU to five schools but, as of Friday, it appears three of those are no longer going to be an option.

Earlier in the week it was announced that Lunt had listed Illinois, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Southern Miss as potential landing spots. However, Oklahoma State confirmed on Friday that Lunt will not be released to any schools from the Big 12, SEC or Southern Miss. Southern Miss is coached by former Cowboy offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who played a significant role in getting Lunt to Stillwater in the first place.

The transfer ban would eliminate SEC members Vanderbilt and Tennessee from his five-team list.

And apparently it doesn't stop there.

Derek Leonard, Lunt's coach at Rochester (Ill.) High School, confirmed to an Illinois TV station that the sophomore quarterback has also been blocked from going to the Pac-12 or Central Michigan, which is a future nonconference opponent for the Cowboys.

It is likely Lunt's family will appeal the transfer restrictions.
