A Sapulpa man entered a no contest plea in court Tuesday to a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter. Scott Christopher Edwards, 31, had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his stepfather, Ricky McClain.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with credit for time served.

Edwards was arrested in April of 2012 after a deadly domestic dispute in the 4500 block of West 55th Street. Sapulpa police said Edwards and his stepfather got into an argument and Edwards shot McClain, 54. Edwards' mother was also arrested as an accessory to murder after police say she tried to help her son claim self defense.

Charges against Michelle McClain were dismissed in September, 2012.
