An Oklahoma animal shelter is disappointed after a donation mix-up to the tune of nearly $200,000.

A shelter in Collinsville, Oklahoma got a call about a six-figure donation - only to find out later that it was meant for a shelter in Collinsville, Illinois.

The lawyers who made the mistake say a mix-up like this has never happened before. The law firm says the shelter's address just got lost in the legal shuffle.

A few weeks ago, the founder of the Collinsville Animal Shelter got a call from an Arizona lawyer saying the shelter was getting more than $188,000 from the estate of a deceased client. After making plans for the money and dreaming big, the firm called back to say the Oklahoma shelter needed to return the money because it was meant for another shelter.

As an apology to the small shelter, the law firm will give them a portion of the legal fees they received from Thomas's estate.

This amounts to $12,000.

The Collinsville, Oklahoma shelter planned to use the donations to help sick pets, perform more spays and neuters and purchase a computer for the facility.
