Tulsa Inmate Faces New Charge Just Weeks Before Release

An inmate from Tulsa now faces a trial in Pittsburg County on a charge of assault and battery on a correctional officer.

Christopher Overby, 23, was serving a five-year prison sentence from Tulsa County for trafficking in illegal drugs.

The Pittsburg County DA's office filed the new charge on February 22, 2013, after an incident in prison. 

Oklahoma Department of Corrections records show Overby's scheduled release date was March 18, 2013; however, DOC transferred him to the Pittsburg County jail to await his trial on the assault charge.

He's due in court in August.
