Oklahoma State pitcher Tyler Nurdin is the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week for games played April 22-28, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Nurdin tossed a complete game shutout against Nebraska Saturday at the TD Ameritrade Classic in Omaha, Neb., to earn his first-career win in an Oklahoma State uniform.

In the 4-0 victory, the sophomore southpaw allowed just four hits – all singles – while striking out four and not issuing a walk. Nurdin faced just three batters over the minimum and needed only 94 pitches to complete the gem, with 75 of those being strikes. At one point, he retired 11-straight Husker hitters, and only two NU runners advanced past first base, both of those coming in the sixth inning.

Nurdin's complete game was just the third by an OSU pitcher this season and only the second in a game that spanned nine innings, while the shutout was the second by a Cowboy hurler in 2013.

In improving to 1-2 on the season, Nurdin lowered his ERA to 1.95, which ranks seventh in the Big 12.

Nurdin is the fourth OSU player to garner a Big 12 weekly award this season, joining Robbie Rea (Player of the Week on April 22), Zach Fish (Player of the Week on March 19) and Tanner Krietemeier (Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 18).
