Enid police are searching for a man who may have pointed a gun at oilfield workers.

According to the Enid News and Eagle, police say the workers encountered a man who was hiding near 42nd and Market Monday morning. The man reportedly waved a gun at the oilfield workers then ran away.

Police have blocked off streets while they search for the man. Several schools on the east side of Enid have locked their doors as a safety precaution. Those schools include Adams, Coolidge, Garfield, Longfellow, Monroe, Carver Educational Center and the Greenbrier 4-year-old program.

Pleasant Vale Elementary has also locked the doors.

Police only have a vague description of the man. They believe the gunman to be a white male wearing dark clothing.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were part of the search but were released just before 2 p.m.
