Oklahoma City Police have arrested a man accused of attacking a 68-year-old man with a pole, then going after the victim's son with a beer bottle.

Witnesses say on April 12, 50-year-old Michael Edward Harris walked up to 68-year-old Danny Dean outside of the Family Dollar on Newcastle Road near Portland in Oklahoma City, and hit him on the head with a metal tent pole. Witnesses say there appeared to be no reason for the attack.

Dean's son, 32-year-old Anthony Dean, witnessed the assault. After the assault, Harris walked next door to a convenience store. Anthony Dean followed him.

The police report states Harris grabbed a bottle of beer in the store, and as the younger Dean entered through the front doors, Harris struck him over the head several times with the beer bottle. Dean began struggling with Harris, but Harris put him in a choke hold.

The store clerk told police that's when Dean's father, Danny, entered the store and pulled Harris off his son. The clerk called police and officers arrested Harris. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail for assault and battery.

Police did not say if the men knew each other before the assault.
