Four Ex-Cons Arrested In Meth Lab Bust Near Tulsa Elementary School

Four ex-convicts are in the Tulsa jail after police discovered methamphetamine lab components in an apartment.

About 2:30 a.m., police were called about a suspicious odors at the Velda Rose Apartments, located in the 2500 block of East Sixth Street. The complex is about a block from Kendall-Whittier Elementary School.

After making contact with the residents, they heard noises of someone flushing things down a toilet, according to investigators.

Field tests for methamphetamine came back positive, booking reports said.

One person jumped off the balcony and escaped.

David Earl Westerfield, 44, who is listed as the resident of the apartment, was taken into custody, along with two other men and a woman. Jeremy Meek, 29, of Pryor; Eric Mitchell, 31, of Tulsa; and Jamie Lynn Dotson, 27, of Pryor, were all booked for endeavoring to manufacture.

A hazmat team was called to clean up the site.

All four have extensive criminal histories.

Westerfield went to prison in 1991 for knowingly concealing stolen property and uttering forged instruments. He also has been convicted of felony marijuana and paraphernalia possession and misdemeanor assault and battery.

Meek has served prison time for possession of controlled substance in presence of a minor or within 1000 feet of a school or park. His parole ended in September 2011.

Mitchell has been convicted of multiple drug felonies over the past decade and has served prison time.

Dotson, who was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for larceny of merchandise, was released from prison in 2012 for assault and battery on a police officer. She also has been convicted of public intoxication and placing bodily fluids on an officer and driving under the influence.
