Semi Accident In El Reno Kills Cattle, Shuts Down Westbound I-40

An overturned semi in El Reno has closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 and killed several cattle being hauled in the truck's trailer.

The accident happened just before 3 a.m. near Highway 81. The truck belongs to Glenn Farms and investigators say the driver may have fallen asleep.

The westbound lanes will be closed for most of the morning as crews work to free the trapped cattle and at least one bull. Traffic westbound is being routed off I-40 and on to Highway 81 in El Reno.

No other vehicles were involved.
