Thieves Take Everything From OKC Family's Storage Unit

A metro family stripped of their livelihood after a brazen theft is hoping the stolen equipment shows up soon.

Surveillance video caught the thieves driving into a south OKC storage facility and leaving with almost $50,000 worth of equipment. The thieves literally took everything this family used to run their small concrete business, all the way down to their work boots.

"I never thought this would happen to us," said an emotional Lizeth Morales.

Morales and her husband stand in front of a now empty storage unit which just until this past Saturday morning was full of work equipment.

"First day, I was just thinking, it was a little nightmare, and you know, everything was going to come back," said Morales.

But that's yet to happen and the worst part, she says they weren't insured and they have a family and three employees to support. Morales says her husband also sends money to his parents in Mexico.  

"They depend on us. We don't have nothing for them. What we lost, we lost," said Morales. "There's no way it's going to get replaced. It took us five years. It took them two hours to take everything."

Surveillance video captured the whole thing. A navy blue Ford F-250 with tan running boards is seen going inside the storage lot as if they're a regular customer, even putting in a code to open the gate.

Two hours later, the truck leaves with a loaded trailer and their work truck, a white Dodge Ram, with a $22,000 BobCat behind it. 

"I think it's the worst thing that could happen to someone that is trying," said Morales.

In the video, one suspect gets out before leaving, with a pair a bolt cutters to cut the chain on the gate, apparently to keep it from closing.

"It still hurts. I also have three kids and I have to provide for my kids. So I can't stop fighting," said Morales.

Morales says they have watched that surveillance video over and over again, trying to see if they recognize the person or the truck. Even though she and her family have been left with nothing to run their business, they're still offering a $500 reward for whoever finds or returns the equipment.

The owner of the storage facility, Classic Boat and RV Storage, says thieves also hit three other units Saturday morning, but Morales' units were the only two completely emptied. Morales says they had no known enemies and all three of their employees were brothers of her husband. She didn't think they were a target.

"God knows, we're not that kind of people," said Morales.
