The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is hoping social media will help them identify a woman who was killed more than 30 years ago, and her body dumped near the North Canadian River.

The woman’s naked body was found April 18, 1980, on the east bank of the river near the town of Jones. The medical examiner determined she'd been shot three times with a .45 caliber handgun. She became known as “Lime Lady” because her killer poured lime powder on her body to try to accelerate the decomposition process.

Investigators say the killer actually aided the investigation because the lime used helped preserve the victim’s body.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of the victim, and they hope someone will recognize her. The victim was white and between the ages of 18 and 25 when she died. She was 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 118 to 120 pounds, and had brown hair and extensive dental work. Some of her teeth were out of alignment.

She also had a distinctive tattoo on her left breast of a heart. It was outlined in blue ink, and the center was red. She also had an appendectomy scar.

The sheriff’s office will also highlight the case on its Twitter account, @okcountysheriff, using the hashtag,#poltwt. Investigators hope the new campaign will generate leads in the unsolved murder.

People with information about the case can call (405) 713-1017,or submit them online to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office website.
