Aggie Softball Falls To Lady Eagles

After winning their home opener earlier in the week, Oklahoma Panhandle State University's softball team could not come up with a win in the three-game series against Oklahoma Christian University Mar. 15-16.

The Aggies led 2-1 after the third inning and scored another run in the fourth in game one, but the Lady Eagles plated two more to take the 4-3 win.

OPSU batters had 11 hits, with Kari Pitts getting three for four at-bats and Brandi Heath going 3-5. Samantha Arledge tossed a complete game, scattering 12 hits and striking out three.

Three OPSU pitchers combined to give up 16 hits and only struck out four in the 9-1 second game loss. In the third inning, Emily Vasquez hit a two-out double to get first base runner Kaitlin McCool home for the lone Aggie run.

In game three, OC's pitcher tossed a complete game shutout, striking out three and scattering four hits. Lilli Ward had two hits for the Aggies and Britnie Weddle and Julie Cross each had one. Starting pitcher Scruggs gave up four hits and struck out three in five innings.

The women play a doubleheader at home on Tuesday, Mar. 19 beginning at one against the Eastern New Mexico State University Zias and then hit the road for a three game series at St. Edward's in Austin, Texas Mar.22-23.
