Southeastern's women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing skid and turned in an 8-1 win over Austin College in the home opener at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Savage Storm move to 3-3 on the season as they prepare for a 1 p.m. matchup with Arkansas-Ft. Smith on Feb. 22.

SE opened with a doubles sweep, led by 8-0 wins by No. 1 duo Andreea Georgescu and Sabina Mardarenko and No. 2 duo Fabiola Juarez and Cassaundra Braaten.

Marina Dias and Elba Haugen rounded out the doubles points with an 8-3 win at No. 3.

Mardarenko led off with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 1 in singles, while Juarez and Georgescu followed up with victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, to seal the victory.

Haugen and Dias picked up straight-set victories at No. 5 and 6, while the lone Storm loss came as Braaten retired form her match at the No. 4 spot due to illness.

The win snaps a rough skid of losses for the Storm after falling to ranked regional foes Central Oklahoma and Southwest Baptist.
