Oklahoma is cracking down on uninsured drivers. Insurance Commissioner John Doak said it's one of the most serious issues in our state.
One in four drivers doesn't have car insurance. Now, he's proposing legislation that would allow law enforcement to remove the tag off a car. It would also raise the fine for driving without insurance and create a temporary state insurance plan for people who lose their tags, giving them 10 days to reclaim their tag.
People who have been in accidents with uninsured drivers support the proposed legislation.
Doak said the legislation will actually save the state nearly 9 million dollars.
