One day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Mid-America Christian University senior guard Charlie Shorter has added to his collection by receiving the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week award.

Shorter averaged 28.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 steals while shooting 51 percent overall from the field in the Evangels' two victories this past week, including a 93-84 upset win at No. 9-ranked Rogers State University on Saturday (Jan. 5).

The 6-1 Dallas, Texas native began the week by dropping 30 points in an 89-76 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan University on New Year's Eve and then followed that up with a game-high 26 points along with four rebounds and two steals on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor in the win at RSU. Shorter took the game over down the stretch of the second half in the win at Rogers, scoring eight of the Evangels' 10 points during a 10-0 spurt that turned a 71-69 deficit into an eight-point lead that MACU never relinquished.

He currently ranks second in the SAC in scoring (21.9 ppg) and is fifth in steals (2.1 spg) and eighth in field-goal percentage (.402). Shorter is also second on Evangels with 21 steals and has recorded 3.5 rebounds a game.

Shorter and the Evangels (6-4, 1-0 SAC) are scheduled to play an exhibition game at Rhema Bible College tonight (Jan. 8) at 7:30 p.m. in Broken Arrow, Okla. The Evangels will then resume conference action at Wayland Baptist University on Thursday night (Jan. 10) at 8 p.m. in Plainview, Texas.
