Oklahoma State men's cross country coach Dave Smith was named the CaptainU Men's College Cross Country Coach of the Year on Friday.

CaptainU, the largest youth and college sports network, chooses the top coaches in their respective sports and divisions for their teams' inspiring performances both on and off the field.

Smith is coming off coaching the men's cross country team to its third national championship in four years. The Cowboys (72) won by a 63-point margin over runner-up and defending national champion Wisconsin (135).
