A fire guts a home in northwest Oklahoma City, sending a mother and her two sons to the hospital. It's a story we first brought you on Saturday. Now the family is sharing their story of survival.

Miriam Wiley and her two sons were sleeping when the fire started in their home near N.W. 36th and Penn.

Trapped by the flames, the two sons broke out windows and tried to pull their mom to safety.

Now, Wiley is recovering from second degree burns to her face and lungs at Integris hospital. But she says her worries are far from over. When she is able to go home, a home will not be there.

The family suspects a space heater started the fire that destroyed everything inside. Wiley's son Nathan, first smelled smoke and woke up everyone in the home.

Nathan Wiley received a few burns to his arms. His brother was not as fortunate. The fire burned his cornea leaving him temporarily blind.

"I ran around back, and my mom… we found her unconscious in her bed. So I busted through her window, and then me and my brother pulled her out. And then I tried to save the dogs, I went back in to get them. And then I came back out and the firefighters were there. And they wheeled her away," Nathan said.

The mother's lungs were burned badly but she was able to talk what she wants to share with Oklahomans.

Firefighters say the fire caused about $30,000 worth of damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

You can help the family by donating to the Wiley Fund at Credit Union One of Oklahoma, located at 3330 N. Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City.
