Explosions Awaken Residents In NE OKC

Several people called 911 early Thursday morning after hearing explosions near N.E. 36th Street and Stiles.

Fire crews arrived just after midnight and discovered what happened. Someone was tearing apart an old trash compactor for scrap metal. An air compressor became too hot and exploded, causing a loud boom.

There was a small fire, which firefighters quickly extinguished. No one was hurt.
