OKLAHOMA CITY - A body was discovered Wednesday afternoon in northeast Oklahoma City on Wilshire Blvd. between Air Depot and Midwest Blvd.

Oklahoma City police taped off the stretch of Wilshire while homicide detectives work to determine what happened there.

A police spokesperson tells News 9 they got the call shortly after 1:30 p.m. that a tree trimmer had found a body in a ditch just off the north side of the road. A lot of this area is farmland with homes that have several acres of property between them.

Police have not said if the body was that of a man or woman. They also have not said how long they believe the body had been lying there. Police are treating this as a suspicious death.

News 9 talked with neighbors out here who say they drove this stretch several times on Wednesday and did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

The body has been taken to the medical examiner's office where a cause of death and hopefully an identity will be determined.
