Edmond Man Faces 7 Charges After Commanding Dog To Attack Girlfriend

An Edmond man accused of commanding his pit bull to attack his girlfriend is facing a number of serious charges.

An Edmond man accused of commanding his pit bull to attack his girlfriend is facing a number of serious charges.

Prosecutors charged Christopher Birchmier with seven counts including domestic abuse by strangulation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and maiming.

According to court documents, Birchmier's girlfriend said he strangled her, told his dog "Butter" to attack her and dragged her across a driveway by her hair.

He's being held on an $86,000 bond.

Meanwhile, Butter the pit bull was declared vicious, and a judge will have to determine the dog's fate.
