A local airman coming back from a six month long deployment got a chance to surprise his kids with his arrival home.

Tech Sergeant Michael Halbrook with the 552nd Air Control Wing arrived back to Tinker Air Force Base Sunday night along with about 160 airmen.

His young son and daughter stayed with their grandparents that night and didn't know he had arrived home.

Parkland Elementary chose the end of their Veterans' Day program to bring out Halbrook as a surprise.

"Daddy," screamed 3-year-old Benjamin Halbrook while running into his father's arms. Amelia, a Kindergartner at Parkland, wasn't quite sure if she was allowed to hug her father until teachers assured her it was okay.

"It went good. Great to see my kids. Nice to see the surprises on their faces," said TSgt. Halbrook about the surprise.

"It's going to be great to have another parent around the house" says Megan Halbrook about her husband's arrival home. "It will be great to be a family again, ready to be a family."
