Thursday was the first day 140,000 Oklahoma gun owners with permits could carry firearms openly in public.
Supporters of the law say, allowing gun owners to openly carry their guns on their hip or in a visible holster deters violent crime. Justin Chappell supports the law.

"Sometimes help is farther away than you need it," he said.
Kim Glover however says it sets a bad example for children.
"I think it's just gonna make issues worse than they are" she said. "I'm totally uncomfortable with it."

There are limits to what type of gun you can openly carry. It cannot be larger than a ,45-caliber or longer than 16 inches.
