Neighbor Shares New Information Following Weekend Murder In NW OKC

Neighbors are revealing new information on what they saw moments after a man was shot to death in his home. Police say the victim's son was home when his father was murdered.

Many people heard the gunshots in the 9400 block of Eagle Hill Drive and immediately ran outside to see what happened. One woman says she saw a suspicious vehicle driving away from the home. So far, police do not have a suspect but are hoping some valuable witness information may change that.

Michael Rhodes was killed in his home near Britton Rd. and Rockwell Ave. just before midnight Saturday evening. Police say the victim's son heard a noise and walked down stairs where he found his dad's body.

"He was inside the residence when suspects forced their way in, shot and killed him, and then fled the scene," MSgt. Gary Knight with Oklahoma City police said.

No one in the far northwest side neighborhood would agree to go on camera. One neighbor, who wishes not to be identified, says a white Cadillac Escalade parked outside the home drove away moments after the shooting. That neighbor admits to being too nervous to share information with police.

"Anyone with information should call the homicide tip line," Knight said.

A three-year-old was also inside the home but was not hurt.

The killing marks the 78th homicide for 2012 in Oklahoma City.
