The Lawton Police Department has asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) to help investigate an officer-involved fatal vehicle crash.

Police responded to a domestic assault early Saturday morning at the Super 9 Motel at N.W. 12th Street and Cache Road. When they arrived, a man jumped into a car and sped away from the motel. Police pursued him.

Officers ended the chase when they lost sight of him, but a few minutes later another officer spotted the suspect's car. He began a second pursuit.

The chase ended at the intersection of N.W. 70th Street and Kingsbury around 3 a.m. The officer called for medical personnel, who pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. The man's name has not been released. Police are still trying to notify his family.

The name of the police officer involved also has not been released.

Police are not releasing any more details. OSBI agents are now investigating to determine exactly what happened. Once they complete the investigation, they'll give their findings to the Comanche County district attorney for review.
