An Atoka teen is in critical condition after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in Custer County, Sunday evening.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Tyler Williams was driving eastbound on I-40 in a 2000 Ford F-150 around 6 p.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel.

The truck went off the road to the left then got back on before leaving the roadway again to the left. The vehicle then overcorrected to the right before entering into a broadslide. The vehicle rolled two-and-a-half times, ejecting Williams an unknown distance.

Williams was transported to Weatherford Regional Hospital by ambulance where he was then air-lifted to OU Medical Center in OKC. He is listed in critical condition.

Troopers say Williams was not wearing a seatbelt.
