Report: Baltimore Orioles Call Up Owasso's Dylan Bundy

The Baltimore Orioles may be getting a little help from an Oklahoma native Wednesday night.

Owasso's Dylan Bundy, 19, reportedly was called up from Baltimore's Double-A affiliate, the Bowie (Maryland) Baysox, to serve in a relief-pitching role against the Seattle Mariners.

Last month, Baltimore manager Buck Showalter told MLB.com that Bundy would be sent from the Baysox to instructional league in Florida, which nearly ended speculation the young right-hander would make an appearance in the big leagues this season.

According to multiple reports, that's no longer the case and Bundy is on his way to join the Orioles in Seattle.

Baltimore and the New York Yankees currently sit atop the American League East and are still very much in the race for the pennant.

Bundy won back-to-back state titles with Class 3A Sperry, but transferred to Owasso for his senior year. The Rams were the Class 6A state runners-up in 2011.

Bundy was the fourth-overall pick in the 2011 MLB draft and signed a bonus of more than $6 million.

Universally regarded to be the top pitching prospect in baseball right now, Bundy boasts a 2.08 ERA through 103 innings pitched in the minors in 2012.

Bobby Bundy, who graduated from Sperry, pitches for the Baysox alongside his younger brother, but is currently on the seven-day disabled list.

Fellow Owasso grads Jaime Bluma (Kansas City Royals), and Pete Kozma (St. Louis Cardinals) also went on to play in the majors.
