Sooner fans are getting ready to head to Norman tomorrow for the team's first home game of the season. Kick-off against Florida A&M is at 6 p.m. If you and your family are making the trip, here are some things you should keep in mind as you travel into town.

Construction zones may create challenges getting to the game. Norman police recommend you use I-35 or Highway 9. You can also take Sunnylane/Porter Ave., which turns into Classen, and go straight to the stadium. These routes will be clear of construction.

Avoid Highway 77 if you can. You'll run into the worst of construction here. The intersection at Flood and Robinson is currently closed because of work being done on the Robinson underpass project. Tomorrow however, this intersection will be open to ease game day traffic. You can take it but keep in mind there's still a lot of construction going on there and heavy back-ups are likely.

Fans can take Sooner Road/12th Ave. NE but there is some construction going on at 12th and Robinson so expect delays in that area.

On campus, drivers should be aware that Boyd St. in front of Campus Corner will be closed. Officers will close Boyd, between Asp Ave. and University, at 3 p.m. to cars. It will be re-routed northbound at University.

Public parking is available around campus, but may cost you. Free parking can be found at the Lloyd Noble Center. A university shuttle will be on hand to pick up fans and drop them off close to the stadium.

The evening kick-off time allows plenty of time to plan ahead and arrive early. That's the biggest tip Capt. Todd Gibson with Norman PD says will help fans get the most out of their game day experience. There are a lot of activities happening before the game – including Sooner Fan Fest and Sooner Club Tailgate – that will allow you and your family to have fun with other fans without additional headaches caused by traveling through busy construction zones or driving around to find an elusive parking spot in an overflow lot.

For more information on what's going on around campus before the game, the times they are happening, and other frequently asked questions including where you can find the game on TV, radio, or online, follow this link to information provided by the University.
