A man remains hospitalized after someone attacked him outside a club in Bricktown and broke his neck.

According to an Oklahoma City police report, 25-year-old Phong Nguyen left Club 115 after 1 a.m. on September 3 with a friend and another man. The man put his arm around Nguyen's neck. Witnesses said the two were speaking quietly and it appeared they were friends.

All that changed when the other man suddenly punched Nguyen in the face, and then ran off. Friends said Nguyen fell to the ground and was temporarily unconscious. Those friends drove him home and helped put him into bed.

Nguyen's family said when he didn't get out of bed the next day, they assumed he was intoxicated or suffering from a hangover. Eventually, they became concerned and took him to the hospital where they discovered he had a broken neck and a blood clot in his brain.

Doctors said the punch to his face caused the injuries. Nguyen had to undergo surgery and his current condition is unknown.

Friends told police Nguyen did not know his attacker, but said they found the man's Facebook page. Police have that information but have not named any suspects in the attack.
