Train Strikes Pedestrian In Norman

Paramedics rushed a man to the hospital early Wednesday morning after he was struck by a train in Norman.

Paramedics rushed a man to the hospital early Wednesday morning after he was struck by a train in Norman.

Around 3:15 a.m., the man was walking near the railroad tracks in the area of W. Symmes Street and James Garner Ave. when he was hit by the northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train.

The pedestrian was identified as 45-year-old Mitchell W. Hammons of Norman. An ambulance transported Hammons to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Police have not released his condition.

The Norman Police Department is investigating the accident, along with investigators from BNSF.
