Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, along with Adair County Sheriff's deputies, are investigating a homicide after a man's body was found outside a church Tuesday afternoon.

According to the OSBI, the pastor of the Pleasant Valley Holiness Church, located near the intersection of South County Road 6920 and Highway 100, discovered a murder victim in the parking lot of the church.

Investigators say the man appeared to have been killed Tuesday morning and that he had trauma to the head. Officials in Adair County and Cherokee County checked missing person's reports for an individual of similar height, build, and race. But no reports have been found at this point that could be linked to the victim, according to OSBI agents.

The identity of the victim is unknown at this time.

Authorities say they will roll prints from the body Wednesday and enter them into the state's Automated Fingerprint Identification System for a possible match.

The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause and manner of death.

If anyone has information about this case, please call the OSBI at (800)-522-8017.
