A 13-year-old Catoosa boy was behind the wheel of a pickup that crashed in the early hours of Saturday, July 21.

The driver and two other teens were injured in the wreck, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Trey T. Johnson was driving a 1993 Chevrolet 2500 pickup southbound on North 520 road about seven miles north of Tahlequah at 1:54 a.m. The truck left the roadway to the right and struck a mailbox. The truck left the roadway again, hit a ditch, flipped and struck a tree.

A 16-year-old passenger was treated and released from a Tulsa hospital with head and external injuries. A second passenger, 13, was treated and released from a Tahlequah hospital with head, external and arm injuries.

Johnson was also treated and released for head and internal injuries.

Troopers say the cause of the wreck was driver inexperience. Johnson was in apparently normal condition at the time of the crash, the trooper's report states.
