Three Oklahoma Sooners were named to the preseason watch list for the Walter Camp Award on Friday, which honors the nation's most outstanding player.

On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Landry Jones and wide receiver Kenny Stills both made the list.

Jones also recently made the watch list for the Davey O'Brien Award, which awards college football's best quarterback, and the Maxwell Award, which also honors the best overall player.

Jones enters the season only three wins shy of tying Steve Davis (1973-75) for the school record for most victories by a starting quarterback.

Stills has made a few preseason lists as well. Along with the Maxwell Award, Stills was also named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award for the country's top wide receiver.

The third player from the Sooners comes from the defense. Safety Tony Jefferson led the 2011 OU team with four interceptions and was third on the squad with 74 tackles. Jefferson was recently named to watch lists for both the Bednarik and Nagurski awards, which honor the best defensive player in college football, and the Jim Thorpe Award for best defensive back.

The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2012 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 124 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced December 6.
