Jurors have reached a guilty verdict in the first-degree murder trial of a man accused of opening fire at Muskogee's Arrowhead Mall in 2010.

Dondray Fowler was convicted Friday of first-degree murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon after the shootings that killed one and injured four.

The jury recommended a sentence of life with parole plus 30 years. Formal sentencing will take place later this summer.

The Muskogee Phoenix reports the jury got the case shortly after noon Friday after hearing closing arguments. It returned a verdict before 5 p.m.

Prosecutor Larry Moore showed jurors a mall surveillance image of 17-year-old Jarrod Reed, noting it was the last time the teenager was seen alive.

But defense attorney L. Wayne Woodyard argued that Fowler was being blamed for a shooting that was part of a larger gang dispute at the mall.
