Thunder Send Big Three To Olympics For USA

The U.S. men's basketball team roster for the Olympics has been set, and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be well represented in London this summer.

James Harden, who was in contention for one of the last three spots on the 12-man roster, joins Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on the team, giving the Thunder three players on the Olympic roster, something that has never been done before.

Thunder forward Serge Ibaka will be playing for Spain this summer in London, so total, the Thunder will have four players from their roster participating in the Olympics.

Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers filled the other two roster positions up for grabs. Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon, and Anthony Davis were the three players that did not make the team.

The U.S has a lot of questions with injuries, particularly to big men, such as Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh. Tyson Chandler is the only true center on the team.

The injuries shouldn't be a problem for Team USA overall since they boast the caliber of players such as Durant, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant. While Spain, who is expected to be the chief competition for the U.S., is big on the interior with Ibaka and both Pau and Marc Gasol, they simply don't have the athletes to match up with James, Bryant, and Durant.

The Olympics begin July 27, and the basketball competition will feature teams from 12 countries.
