A six-hour standoff is finally over. It happened near Southeast 50th and Lindsay after a man broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and tried to hold her there.

Witnesses say police were able to trick the man into letting the woman loose and if it weren't for their quick thinking, there's no telling how this whole situation could have ended.

Police responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. after witnesses called 911. The man, who witnesses knew, barricaded himself inside his ex-girlfriend's house. They say the man was armed and pointed the gun at the victim and other witnesses before police arrived.

Police spent about six hours trying to get him to come out. They finally busted into the house and arrested him.

Nobody was injured during the ordeal. Police say they have responded to calls about this same couple in the past. Several neighbors were evacuated, but are now back at home.

Police say the suspect could be looking at charges including burglary and pointing a firearm. They are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time.
