Oklahoma City police say a 23-year-old woman assaulted an officer after trying to run away from a car accident.

Police responded to an accident on June 24 at Sheridan and Oklahoma. Witnesses told police they saw the driver of one of the cars running away.

Police chased the woman, later identified as Siobhan Gabriel, and apprehended her. The officer said as he attempted to handcuff her, Gabriel punched him in the face. He was able to subdue her and put the handcuffs on her wrists.

Police said Gabriel had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She was also swaying on her feet and slurring her speech. Police transported her to the Oklahoma County jail where she was booked for assault and battery on a police officer, DUI, and leaving the scene of an accident.
