Oklahoma City police are searching for a suspected shoplifter who pulled out a weapon when a store security guard tried to stop him.
Police say the suspect went to the Bell Isle Wal-Mart in northwest Oklahoma City on June 4. The man paid for a tent, but concealed cologne and several other items in his pockets for which he hadn't paid. The store's loss prevention officer confronted the man and told the suspect they could do this the easy way, or the officer could call the police and make it a felony.
Police say that's when the suspect pulled out a knife and said, "Let's make it the felony."
Police say the suspect extended the knife toward the loss prevention officer and the store manager, then ran from the store. He dropped the tent, a receipt and some cash, but made off with several stolen items.
Surveillance cameras captured video of the suspect, and police released several still pictures taken from the video. They hope someone will recognize him. He's wanted for shoplifting and assault with a deadly weapon.
If you have any information about the suspect, police ask you to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
