Several structures in Oklahoma County damaged by this week's severe storms will get a tax break this year, according to Oklahoma County Assessor's Office.

Officials evaluated the damaged structures in Oklahoma County before making the decision. They say these structures will be partially or completely removed from assessment for ad valorem taxes for this year by the County Board of Equalization (BOE).

"This is one of the benefits of having a Budget Board made up of all eight elected county officers, because only in Budget Board counties is there an ability to extend the BOE until June 30 to allow for any damage and destruction from fire or natural disasters like floods, hail or tornadoes," Oklahoma County Assessor Leonard Sullivan said.

The Red Rock Canyon Grill was damaged by a fire Tuesday evening. Fire officials say the lightning from the storms may be to blame.
