On May 24, 2011, a tornado outbreak in central Oklahoma killed nine people, including two young brothers.

Tornadoes roared through Canton, Chickasha, Newcastle, Dibble, Washington, Goldsby, El Reno, Guthrie and Piedmont. The Piedmont tornado struck the Hamil house, killing 3-year-old Ryan and 15-month-old Cole. Their 5-year-old sister, Cathleen, and pregnant mom, Catherine, were seriously injured but have recovered.

News 9's Kelly Ogle spoke with Hank and Catherine Hamil in April. They say faith, family and friends helped keep the strong over the last year.

"It amazes me people still remember us, think of us, and pray for us," said Catherine. "That's what's helped us the most is all the prayers."

The Hamils now live in a home with basement they use as a storm shelter. They say they plan to build a house that will include a storm shelter.
