Government overreach can range from the unconstitutional to the simply absurd, this would come closer to the absurd.

City fathers in Fort Lee, New Jersey have decided their citizens aren't smart enough to know that you should look up occasionally when they're texting on their cell phones and walking on the sidewalk.

That combination has given us some hilarious YouTube moments. The man walking into the street sign.

And my favorite the lady who walked into the shopping mall fountain.

I don't know, maybe the people of Fort Lee aren't smart enough to figure it out.

The police chief says, this year, they've had 3 people killed walking against red lights while texting or distracted by mp3 players.

He says 23 others have been hit by vehicles.

What's going on in Fort Lee, New Jersey, do they need remedial street crossing lessons up there or something?

$85 dollar fines they're handing out now.

If you have to tell your citizenry to glance up before stepping into the street and 85 dollar fine can't save your community.
